OUR SERVICES

Requirements Analysis and Feasibility Studies

Our analysts have developed feasibility study and cost/benefit analysis documents that detail: current system costs; proposed system costs; tangible benefits; alternative analysis; work plan for detailed design, conversion and implementation; project management plan; and risk assessment.

Project Management

We utilize a project-scheduling tool, e.g. Microsoft Project, to track the project schedule, identify task relationships and dependencies, major checkpoints, critical paths, and to help manage resource utilization. We track project costs using spreadsheets which include budgeted and actual costs.

Systems Analysis and Design

Our analysts have provided expert level systems analysis and design support on a wide range of projects including analysis for mainframe, client/server and web.

Our experience includes work on projects using object-oriented design and development principals for implementation in a Microsoft DCOM architecture. Use Cases, sequence diagrams, class models, and data models are developed using Rational Rose case tool components (RUP). The design models are defined using Unified Modeling Language (UML) notation standards.

Data Analysis, Data Modeling and Database Design

Our analysts have performed business area analysis to define databases and processes; defined logical and physical data models, including idenfication of the entities, attributes and relationships; developed decomposition, data flow and entity-relationship diagrams; developed the physical database design; developed enterprise-level data models in support of business re-engineering; provided our clients with strategies for common data usage and design; completed data models of existing databases, designing improvements and enhancements.

Our database experience includes: ADABAS, MS SQL Server 7/2000/2012, Oracle and MS-Access 2.0-2013.

Design tool experience includes:

  • Visio
  • Rational Rose
  • Information Engineering Workbench (IEW/ADW)
  • System Architect
  • ERWin/ERX
  • Power Designer
  • DesignAid

Mainframe Application Development

Our mainframe consultants have senior level experience working in the IBM mainframe environment utilizing MVS/ESA JCL, TSO/ISPF, systems utilities, JES2, and programming debugging aids. Application design and development experience includes COBOL, CICS and ADABAS/NATURAL.

Specialized experience includes:

  • CA-7 Automatic Scheduler
  • REXX
  • VSAM
  • ADASQL
  • ADAPREP
  • Endeavor
  • DYL280
  • RACF
  • XPEDITER

Client/Server Application Development

We have been designing and developing client-server systems for Washington state agencies and private businesses since 1994. We have provided N-Tier design and development support on enterprise level projects since 2000. Our experience includes both Microsoft and IBM development platforms, including the .NET Framework. We are experienced in the design and development of stored procedures, triggers and constraints using Transact SQL (T-SQL) for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

Our experience includes both the Microsoft Windows and SUN UNIX platforms.

Web Application Development

Our web developers have at least of eight years experience in business programming, analysis and system design using Object Oriented analysis and design approaches to support Use Case development, Interaction diagrams, and class models. We develop web applications to support business and government for NET 2.0/3.5/4.0 Frameworks using VB.Net, C#.Net, SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2012, Web Services and Microsoft AJAX Extensions/Toolkit using Test-Driven Development (TDD) techniques to ensure quality.

Natural/ADABAS web development experience includes analysis, design, and project management of projects to develop EntireX and Broker with ASP to develop web front-end application to legacy mainframe applications.

Application and Data Conversion

Our approach:

  • Identify end-user application and/or data experts for the project
  • Review existing systems and databases and summarize information about the physical computing platform
  • Develop a conversion oversight project plan
  • Conduct analysis to determine necessary changes and document those changes
  • Create programmer specifications of the changes
  • Create conversion test plans and scripts for unit and system testing, including parallel testing
  • Review test results with end-user experts
  • Log and control test incidents
  • Identify operations experts for the project
  • Develop implementation plan and review with operations experts

Software Maintenance

Our maintenance experience covers a wide range of technical support of existing applications, including:

  • On-going support of applications that our programmers have developed
  • Analysis and documentation of existing mainframe, client/server and web applications developed by other programmers
  • Design and development of enhancements to legacy Natural/ADABAS, COBOL and COBOL/CICS systems
  • Application conversions, including VB 6 to VB.Net and mainframe to web.
